Free digital literacy classes

To support digital literacy and bridge the technological divide, Lincoln Land Community College and AT&T have partnered to provide digital literacy training classes targeted towards older adults in need of digital skills. New class dates will be added throughout 2024. 

These classes are free of charge, but pre-registration is required. 

Note that classes are held at LLCC’s downtown center, LLCC-Medical District, 130 W. Mason Street, Springfield, IL 62702. This center has a dedicated free parking lot.

This workshop is for those who are new to using a PC. Participants will learn how to navigate the Windows 10 operating system, identify the main parts of the desktop, distinguish between applications, files, and folders, how to manage and resize windows, and how to save files.

This workshop is for those who are new to using email or want to build more confidence using email. The email training will be using Gmail, one of the most common email platforms. Learners will create a Gmail account. They will also learn how to perform basic email functions, such as sending, receiving, and replying to email. Also, they will learn to recognize and deal with spam, organize and delete emails, and search for messages.

This workshop is for those who have some experience setting up personal accounts online and are interested in video conferencing. It will support attendees to create an account on a popular video conferencing platform (Zoom) and build confidence when using features of the platform in an online meeting.
