Employment and education:
Libin completed LLCC’s massage therapy program in spring 2016. She is the owner of LC Luxury Reflexology & Massage Spa in Springfield.
How has Lincoln Land Community College impacted your life?
LLCC has helped me get the education I needed in order to sit for the national certification exam in order to be come a licensed massage therapist. I was struggling balancing the needs of my four children and working several different jobs. LLCC helped me manage all of the stress that comes with a full personal life and taking a full time program.
What have been some obstacles you have had to overcome in pursuit of your education and/or career goals?
I am the first college graduate from my family.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Achieving my goal of opening up my massage therapy business. Our grand opening was just held on Sept. 3!
Was there a professor, advisor, staff member or fellow student who made an impression on you or helped you when you were here at LLCC?
Kim Eddings helped tutor me which directly impacted my success. Dani Crafton, a fellow student in the program, has helped me so much during the program and in getting my business ready to open. She is always in my corner when I need her! All of the program instructors did everything in their power to support my learning and to help me overcome my language barrier. Laurel Bretz guided me through all the regulatory application processes and helped coach me throughout the program whenever I was struggling.
What did you like about LLCC or what is your favorite LLCC memory?
I can always find a way to the information that I need. Everyone has been very helpful. I liked that the program was scheduled during the evening so I could still work during the day. My favorite member was taking part in the student massage clinic. It was very rewarding to see our studies put into action and have the public come and provide feedback.
