Compensation
Adjuncts are paid on a step rate system, which is based on the amount of contact hours that have been taught by the adjunct at LLCC prior to the beginning of the semester. The current Adjunct Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement establishes the following salary schedule for the 2025-2026 academic year:
- Step A (0-29 contact hours taught) - $902 per contact hour / $919 with a terminal degree
- Step B (30-59 contact hours taught) - $922 per contact hour / $940 with a terminal degree
- Step C (60-89 contact hours taught) - $943 per contact hour / $965 with a terminal degree
- Step D (90+ contact hours taught) - $961 per contact hour / $982 with a terminal degree
Substitute instruction
Adjunct faculty members are paid $75 per hour for substitution, and this is set by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, Section 15.2.
Directed study compensation
Directed study is paid at the end of the semester and is paid at $175 per course contact hour for each directed study student. This is set by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, Section 15.3.
Travel allowance
Adjunct faculty are paid a travel allowance if their home address is more than 20 miles from their campus location. Travel amounts are outlined in the Adjunct Collective Bargaining Agreement. They are divided into two payments for 16-week classes, and one payment is issued for 8-week and 4-week classes. The amount you will be receiving is listed on your Acceptance of Assignment that is mailed to your home address at the beginning of each semester, along with the pay schedule outlining pay dates for compensation and travel.

State Universities Retirement System (SURS)
SURS is a state funded pension program specified for university and community college employees. SURS requires 8% of the employee's pay to be deducted on a pre-tax basis and contributed to the system. This retirement system does not coordinate with social security and, consequently, there is no payroll deduction for FICA. However, there is a payroll deduction requirement of 1.45% of gross wages for Medicare. Participation in SURS is mandatory when completing a SURS eligible assignment. Not all adjunct assignments will qualify. You must have 10 years of service to be considered a "vested" member. To learn more about SURS, please visit their website at surs.org.
Leave time
Adjunct faculty will receive paid personal leave at the rate of one class or class equivalent (such as clinicals) for each assigned course to be used when they are unable to report to work due to illness or personal emergency.
Tuition waiver
Adjunct faculty members and their dependent children under 22 years of age (must be 21 at start of semester) are eligible for a tuition waiver for college credit-generating courses taken at LLCC. Eligibility shall be limited to the number of contact hours taught by the adjunct faculty member during the then-current semester. For each contact hour of instruction, the adjunct faculty member shall be entitled to one credit hour of tuition waived. A grade of A, B or C must be earned for the waiver to be applied. The adjunct must be employed at the beginning and end of the course and must complete the required Tuition Waiver Application Form, online in Employee Records at https://llcc.peopleadmin.com/hr. You will use your LLCC login and password to access the Employee Records.
Free access to LLCC's Fitness Center
LLCC employees are welcome to use LLCC's Fitness Center located in Cass Gym free of charge. The Fitness Center is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. At the beginning of every semester, LLCC Athletics will post available hours of when employees can use the Fitness Center, excluding when Physical Conditioning classes are in session.
