Job Outlook

Heavy vehicle and mobile equipment service technicians had a median salary of $53,320 in 2020 according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The demand is strong for qualified technicians both locally and nationally with many companies offering tuition reimbursement and other incentives.

Cost

For fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025, diesel technologies (DET) classes, except 204 and 207, have a tuition rate of $210 per credit hour for in-district residents. All other classes in the program have a standard in-district rate of $140 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.

*Tools required for internship. If not going to a dealer that supplies tools, add: $4,000.

Learn about the application process from the program director. Get answers to any questions you may have about the industry and the Workforce Institute at LLCC. The diesel technologies program is a full-time day program that starts in the fall semester. Events will be held at the Workforce Careers Center on LLCC's main campus in Springfield. Upcoming dates include: Wednesday, Dec. 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Jan. 28, 9-11 a.m.; and Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
