Scheduling courses

High school personnel should contact the following individuals to discuss plans for scheduling courses:

  • The dual credit agreement is between the high school, the instructor and LLCC. The instructor identified in the agreement is critical to any dual credit course; therefore, any changes in the instructor may nullify the agreement. Any extended absences (more than two weeks duration) without prior approval of a replacement during the scheduled course may nullify the agreement. Due to the rigor and expectations of the course work, no student teachers will be allowed to instruct during this scheduled course.

  • Instructors will need to complete cybersecurity training for LLCC two times per year-fall training in November and spring training in April. This is mandatory for all LLCC employees. The instructor’s LLCC account will become deactivated if training is not completed by the given due date.

  • Dual Credit instructors will be required to complete college documentation (submit a course syllabus, verify registration rosters, verify attendance rosters and submit final college course grades) by the communicated due date.

  • Instructors will need to complete an adjunct instructor application and be approved to teach by the LLCC department dean.

  • Instructors will deliver the course content identified in the ICCB approved college curriculum and defined student learning outcomes for each course.

  • The dual credit agreement is between the high school, the instructor, and LLCC is called the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

  • High School administrators will follow the process for dual credit course requests. The deadline for having courses approved is February 1.

  • All dual credit instructors must meet minimum qualifications. Instructors who have been previously approved and meet current qualifications do not need to go through the approval process. New instructors must go through the approval process by February 1 unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Homeschooled students who would like to take college level courses while in high school would be able to take classes on their own as a “courses only student” or by working with their local public high school. Reach out to the public high school guidance counselor in the student's district high school for more information.

Homeschooled students would need to complete an application and follow all enrollment procedures.

Students who are under 16 years of age will have to complete a special form to register. Placement testing might be required for courses with prerequisites.
