SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College students, faculty, staff and alumni participated in the Lincoln Land Cardboard Boat Regatta on Sept. 2. 

Creativity, teamwork and school spirit were on display as 10 teams competed in a race across Lake Macoupin on the campus in Springfield.

A team from the LLCC Library with the boat, RV Swan Linc, won the race and the best engineer award. Awards were given to the top three finishers, and other honors included school spirit, best design, Titanic, fastest finish and the president’s award.

All proceeds are being donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois.

DJ Yinka provided music during the event, and Kona Ice served snow cones.
