LLCC is hosting the second annual Freedom Walk on June 19 at 8:30 a.m. in observance of Juneteenth. The public is invited to participate.

The 1.25-mile walk around the Springfield campus at 5250 Shepherd Rd. will begin at the flag poles outside of A. Lincoln Commons and includes tributes to the timeline of events leading up to Juneteenth’s Freedom Day. A light continental breakfast will be provided after the walk. Participants are encouraged to wear Juneteenth colors of red, green, gold or black.

The LLCC Library will offer viewings of “The Tex Factor: The Journey of Opal Lee” at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The 15-minute documentary-style video is about Opal Lee, the grandmother of Juneteenth.
