SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College students Luke Adams of Athens, Kortney Fisher of Taylorville and Austin Simmons of Springfield were among top community college students from across the state honored April 27 as members of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Illinois Academic Team. The annual team banquet in downtown Springfield is sponsored by the Illinois Community College Board.

Adams, an agriculture major, is active in the LLCC Ag Club and served as an Illinois Professional Agricultural Students (PAS) state officer and PTK chapter treasurer. He earned the American FFA Degree, a prestigious honor awarded to less than 2% of FFA members. Following LLCC, he will transfer to Florida Gulf Coast University to study analytics and informatics with a minor in ag business.  

Fisher, a neurodiagnostic technology major, is a recipient of the ASET Neurophysiology Society Scholarship and the Leona Stanford Vollintine Charitable Trust Scholarship through the LLCC Foundation. She is a consistent honoree on the LLCC President’s List, recognizing high academic achievement. Following graduation from LLCC, she plans to enter the workforce. 

Simmons, a business administration major, is a non-profit organizer and martial arts instructor. He serves as board president of Project Animal Freedom's Springfield chapter, leading the nonprofit in strategic community-building events and initiatives. After graduating from LLCC, he plans to transfer to the University of Illinois Springfield. 

Phi Theta Kappa is the leading international academic honor society for students at two-year colleges. The All-Illinois Academic Team honors outstanding Illinois community college students and highlights the high-quality education provided by the 48 public community college and six private two-year colleges in the state.
