SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College will host Aviation Maintenance 101 from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15 to allow individuals to try out an aviation maintenance career. The event will be held at the Levi, Ray and Shoup, Inc. Aviation Center at LLCC, 815 South Airport Drive, Springfield. Registration for the free event is available at www.llcc.edu/aviation.
Attendees will participate in a sampling of activities in aviation maintenance, including projects with sheet metal, electrical wiring and an aircraft piston engine. They will also have the opportunity to start a jet engine.
“We invite prospective students to learn about the in-demand career of aviation maintenance and how they can get into a high paying career quickly through LLCC’s training program,” said Dr. Nancy Sweet, dean of the LLCC Workforce Institute. “This event is unique in that participants can actually roll up their sleeves and do hands-on activities in our hangar.”
Information sessions, in which attendees can learn about an aircraft mechanic career, tour LLCC’s hangar and shops, and get information on how to get started, will be held on Oct. 29, 3:30 p.m., and Dec. 3, 9:30 a.m.
