These days there are many options for exploring colleges and training institutes — in-person with options such as tours, visit days and information sessions, and through websites, social media, online reviews and even AI summaries.
Beginning by exploring a college, or institute, on its website and social media channels can provide information on programs, training and class options. You can also get a glimpse of the college experience, including what activities and events students are participating in through photos, videos and stories.
But a not-to-be-missed, important factor in making your decision is the college visit. Visiting a college in person offers more opportunities. I invite you to visit us in person at Lincoln Land Community College — to discover for yourself what makes LLCC a great option for career training, earning an associate degree that transfers to a four-year university and for taking a class or seminar to improve your skillset.
Campus tour
An in-person tour gives you the opportunity to get a feel for the campus and its community of students, faculty and staff firsthand. It’s an intangible quality that is unique to you — taking into account what you value, what you’re looking for in an environment and community to help you reach your goals. An in-person tour at LLCC introduces you to staff, provides an opportunity to ask questions and gives you a first look at our beautiful grounds and facilities, as well as our many free support services and high-quality programs, covering a wide range of opportunities from nursing to construction to transfer degrees.
Questions often address classes that are required for your intended major, support services or what the final cost will be. When looking at cost, it’s important to look at several factors to make sure you’re getting the best value — tuition cost per credit hour, fees, books and for some colleges, room and meal plans, and parking. LLCC proudly offers higher ed at a lower cost, and that is even before factoring in financial aid and scholarships, which lower the cost even further. We also provide many free personalized services to help students — from choosing a major and making the transition to college to providing free academic, wellness and career support resources and helping you succeed. You can book a tour at www.llcc.edu/visit.
The full experience
Campus visit days not only provide another opportunity to tour campus, get questions answered and meet with faculty and staff, but you also get the fun and excitement of a large-scale event — discovering opportunities for your future, meeting current and future Loggers and, of course, refreshments and LLCC swag!
Like many others, you may find yourself in a position where you’re undecided about what area of study you want to go into. If you’re not sure, an in-person visit can provide inspiration. LLCC’s campus visit day includes exhibit areas where more than 100 degree and certificate programs are showcased. You can talk with faculty and deans in these areas to get a better understanding of what career paths are like in those fields of study.
LLCC’s spring campus visit day will be held Monday, March 3, 4-7 p.m. with check-in beginning at 3:30 p.m. It is a free event at our Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd. and an opportunity to get to know us better by:
Speaking with faculty and staff.
Viewing exhibits.
Hearing from a student panel.
Attending breakout sessions.
Touring select areas of campus.
With LLCC staff on-hand to help, in-person visits can be great motivators in taking the next steps in achieving your goals. Registration for the event is available at www.llcc.edu/campus-visit-day or by calling 217-786-2292. Walk-ins are welcome.
