SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College will host Workforce 101 from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 11 to allow individuals to try out various career training programs. Registration for the free event is available at www.llcc.edu/workforce.
Hands-on workforce sessions will be offered in construction, automotive technology, HVAC, commercial electrical maintenance, and hospitality and culinary arts.
The event begins at the Workforce Careers Center on the LLCC campus, 5250 Shepherd Road. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. From 10-11:15 a.m., participants will attend their chosen workforce session. From 11:30 a.m. to noon, participants can learn about steps to enroll, ways to pay for college and support services, such as the Workforce Equity Initiative and services for veterans.
“We invite prospective students to learn about these in-demand industries and career opportunities, and how our programs can get you into a high paying career quickly,” said Dr. Nancy Sweet, dean of the LLCC Workforce Institute. “This event is unique in that participants can actually roll up their sleeves and do hands-on activities in our labs.”
More information on the event is available at www.llcc.edu/workforce.
