SPRINGFIELD — The Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Lincoln Land Community College held its fall induction ceremony Oct. 23 in the Trutter Center on the Springfield campus. The event formally recognized 37 new chapter members with a ceremony and reception attended by family and friends of the inductees and several representatives from LLCC administration, faculty and staff.
During the ceremony, the following chapter officers were installed:

- Jessica Gibson, Pleasant Plains, Vice President of Service
- Zorah Austin, Virden, Vice President of Scholarship
- Braden Nicoll, Springfield, Vice President of Records
- Katie Angulo, Girard, Vice President of Fellowship
- Lexie Ebersohl, Petersburg, Vice President of Public Relations

The guest speaker for the ceremony was Isaac Barrett, former chapter president. Another former chapter president, Joey Gallo of Jacksonville, also participated in the ceremony.
"Phi Theta Kappa's mission is to recognize and promote student academic achievement, and students who accept their invitation to join this prestigious Honor Society have access to numerous growth opportunities in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship,” says Ryan Roberts, professor, Library and chapter co-advisor. “PTK members can also build micro-credentials by completing online learning modules hosted on the PTK website, as well as apply for scholarships to either continue their education or transition into the workforce.”
Roberts credits the students’ hard work for Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter’s recognition as a Top 100 Chapter among the nearly 1,300 PTK chapters internationally.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society recognizing academic excellence in two-year college students. Its goals include promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service among members.
