LLCC to host Workforce and Health Care 101 July 26

Prospective students invited to try out careers

SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College will host Workforce and Health Care 101 from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 26 to allow individuals to try out various career training programs. Registration for the free event is available.

Hands-on workforce sessions will be offered in automotive technology, HVAC, construction and commercial electrical maintenance. Health care sessions are nursing (RN, LPN, CNA), surgical technology, neurodiagnostic technology and occupational therapy assistant. 

The event begins at the Workforce Careers Center on the LLCC campus, 5250 Shepherd Road. From 5-5:45 p.m., participants can learn about the LLCC application and enrollment process, ways to pay for college and next steps. From 5:45-8 p.m., participants will attend their chosen workforce or health care session. 

“We invite prospective students to learn about these in-demand industries and career opportunities, and how our programs can get you into a high-paying career quickly,” said Nancy Sweet, dean of the LLCC Workforce Institute. “This event is unique in that participants can actually roll up their sleeves and do hands-on activities in our labs.”

“Health care jobs are plentiful, and our graduates are highly sought by local employers, who will be on hand at this event,” said Dr. Cynthia Maskey, dean of health professions. “We invite anyone who is considering a health care career to explore our nursing and other allied health programs.”
